The legality of child pornography is explicitly addressed in 94 of the 187 Interpol member states as of 2008, according to research performed by the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) Koons Family Institute on International Law and Policy. Of those 94 countries, 58 criminalized possession of child pornography regardless of intent to distribute it.
Pornography is gradually becoming a huge public health issue owing to its impact on behavioral and family health. Available data has shown that porn sites get more visitors each month than Twitter, Amazon and Netflix combined and an increasing number of women (17 percent) now describe themselves as addicted to pornography. Referred to as “the drug of the new millennium” because of its tendency to inflict and wreak more havoc than hard drugs such as cocaine and heroin, gay sex and pornography or porno is one of the leading causes of depression, family crisis, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual disorientation and destruction of family values.
Child pornography is considered to be any depiction of a minor or an individual who appears to be a minor who is engaged in sexual or sexually related conduct. A Teen is considered as a young person a person between the age of 13 and 19 years. Downloading, watching, viewing, or being in possession of any content or depiction of a minor or an individual who appears to be a minor whose age is less than 18 years engaging in sexual or sexually related conduct is illegal and punishable by law. This includes pictures, videos, and computer-generated content. Even altering a picture or video so that it appears to be a minor can be considered child pornography. One important exception to the category of illegal child pornography is artistic renderings or depictions that have a serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. Most porno addicts are more likely into teen and child pornography which is a crime in virtually all civilized nations of the world. According to the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (CCCP), children under the age of 12 were depicted in 78.3 percent of videos and images assessed by their team, and 63.40percent of those children were under the age of 8. The United Nations estimates that of the over 1.8 million children who are annually exploited as part of the illicit commercial sex market, approximately 100,000 are American children. By subscribing to pornographic channels, an individual is financially supporting an industry that strips children of their childhood in a very malevolent manner, even if he or she is not directly or physically participating in the promotion of such behavior.
