ICD 10 Code
The term ICD-10 refers to the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) revised version 10, a medical classification list produced and published by the World Health Organization (WHO). It contains a distribution of specific codes for abnormal findings, complaints, diseases, signs and symptoms, external causes of injury or diseases, and social circumstances. This updated code enables the tracking of new diagnoses and replaces the ICD 9 which ceased to be accepted after October 1, 2015. Read: CTN 10 Side Effects
Seasonal allergies
Seasonal allergies, also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis or “hay fever” are allergy symptoms that occur during certain periods of the year. They are triggered by the overreaction of the immune system to allergens such as pollen particles, pet hair, dust, and mold spores in the air which leads to the inflammation of the nose. This condition is characterized by a runny or stuffy nose, red, itchy, and watery eyes, sneezing, and swelling around the eyes. Individuals with seasonal allergies may also have atopic dermatitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and asthma. See Cetirizine Hydrochloride and Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride,
Mechanism
The mechanism involves the attachment of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies produced by the immune system to the allergen, this action triggers the release of histamine, an inflammatory chemical from mast cells.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis of the condition is carried out using a combination of blood tests for allergen-specific Immunoglobulin E antibodies and a skin prick test.
