Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. There are several products in the Juvederm family. They all are used to help people address the facial signs of aging. How Long Does Swelling Last After Juvederm?
After Juvederm Injection, swelling typically peaks about two days after injection, then gradually decreases over the next few days, along with any bruising and injection site redness that has occurred. Icing the treated area helps reduce swelling and avoiding NSAIDs (e.g. Advil, Aleve, aspirin) will help you prevent bruising.

General Care After Fillers:
Bruising and Swelling – ice as much as you can for the first several days. 20 min. on and 20 min. off – 5 times a day. Extra icing can definitely help.
Headache Pain or Pain at Injection Site – Tylenol or Motrin usually is all that is required.
Redness, Welts, and Itching – Benadryl is best. This is available over-the-counter.
Lumps or Bumps – massage with constant pressure to the area for 2 min. Repeat 4-5 times a day.
Results – Understand Realistic Results. Additional treatment requires more product and has an additional expense.
Risks and side effects
You can expect some swelling and bruising. Other common side effects include:
- redness
- tenderness
- lumps or bumps
- minor pain
- itching
All of these side effects usually subside within two to four weeks.
More serious side effects are typically associated with unprofessional handling, like injecting Juvederm into a blood vessel unintentionally.
