Apixaban, sold under the brand name Eliquis among others, is an anticoagulant medication used to treat and prevent blood clots and to prevent stroke in people with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. This FDA approved medication is consistently more effective than warfarin for patients with atrial fibrillation regardless of the number of other drugs they take, a study has found.
