Lagos with a population of over 20 million people is facing a huge shortage of qualified nurses. When it comes to job opportunities for nurses, Lagos is listed among States in the “high end” class because of the high number and variety of general and specialist health facilities on offer. Statistics from the Healthcare Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, HEFAMAA, show that in Lagos, there are 26 registered General Hospitals, 256 public healthcare centers, 2, 886 private hospitals or specialist clinics and laboratories or diagnostic centers in addition to an estimated 160 tradomedical centers.

 

Who is a Registered Nurse?

A Registered Nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province, or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. An RN’s scope of practice is determined by legislation and is regulated by a professional body. In Nigeria, that body is the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria a category B parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health established by Decree No. 89, 1979.

How to Apply for Nigerian Army College of Nursing Admission

Admission Requirements: Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 Credits in their O-Level Result (WAEC, NECO, GCE) which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A maximum of two sitting is accepted. Candidates with NABTEB can also apply.

Age Limit: Candidates must be between the ages of 17 – 25 years

Duration: 3 Years, an Application form is obtained directly from the office of the Registrar on payment of the sum of a non-refundable fee of N5,000 Naira only. 8. School of Psychiatric Nursing, Federal Neuropsychiatric, Yaba.

Entry requirement: Interested candidates must be Registered Nurses with at least one-year post qualification experience with a valid current license and must possess five (5) Credits at O’Level in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The combination of results should not be more than two (2) sittings of the same examination body.

 

Method of application:
