What Is Meant By Gestalt In Time Line Therapy

Time Line Therapy (TLT) is a therapeutic process developed by Dr. Tad James, a Master Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). This type of therapy releases negative emotions attached to past events such as anger, fear, sadness, hurt and guilt. It also eliminates self-limiting beliefs that hinder a person from pursuing the life that they want.

Time Line Therapy uses your individual own internal “Time Line” by working with your Unconscious Mind in a number of ways which includes healing emotional traumas and eliminating unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviors in minutes rather than days, months or years.

How does it work?

In Time Line Therapy, the therapist activates the unconscious mind of the client by putting them in a relaxed state. The client is taken to some point in their past before they experienced the negative emotions stored in their subconscious mind. The therapist then guides their client to those events where their negative emotions were created and releases them from such feelings.

Why is time line therapy important?

Negative emotions get in the way of one’s work, relationships, health, and life per se. Taking away the negative emotions attached to past events changes a person’s behavior and perspective on life.

Next time a situation that would normally make them feel bad arises, they will be able to deal with it intelligently rather than base their reaction on how they felt towards a similar event in the past.

Can it erase painful memories?

Time Line Therapy does not delete events from a person’s memory, only the negative emotions attached to these. After undergoing a TLT session, a person will still remember past events in their life but no longer wallow in sadness, anger, fear or other emotions that were previously associated with those events.

What is meant by gestalt in time line therapy?

The Time Line Therapy™ works on the principle of a Gestalt. There are six individual principles commonly associated with gestalt theory: similarity, continuation, closure, proximity, figure/ground, and symmetry & order (also called prägnanz). There are also some additional, newer principles sometimes associated with gestalt, such as common fate.

A Gestalt is a sequence of significant emotional events that are all linked together, imagine if you will a pearl necklace with each pearl representing a significant emotional event in your life.
